This product has been manufactured as a solution to the frequent keypad deformation issues encountered in Skanti VHF1000 VHF radio units. Although the buttons in this model are physical switches, the overlay keypad, which covers the buttons and indicates their functions, tends to suffer from physical wear and tear over time. This degradation negatively impacts the usability of the radio.
Commonly affected keys include CH16, Enter, Volume, Squelch, numeric keys, and the function buttons beside the screen. These sections often become torn or illegible, making it difficult to understand each key’s function during operation.
The recommended solution is to replace only the keypad overlay, not the entire device. The replacement process is straightforward and will help restore the device to its original performance and appearance.

REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
1- Disconnect the device’s voltage socket or switch off its breaker from the electric panel. 2- Remove the pin from the Distress Button Cover. It may be a bit difficult as it fits tightly. 3- Keep the pin and spring of the Distress Button Cover for future use. 4- Use a utility knife to lift the old and worn VHF-1000 Panel from a corner, then peel it off by hand. 5- If possible, remove all remaining adhesive. If it cannot be removed, you may leave it as is. 6- Remove the protective adhesive backing from the new VHF-1000 Keypad Panel. 7- Carefully stick the keypad in place in one go, and gently press across the entire surface to ensure full adhesion. 8- Reinstall the Distress Button Cover along with its pin and spring.
